Army Prevents VA From Helping Wounded Soldiers At Ft. Drum

On February 7, 2008, Morning Edition, an NPR news program, broke the story that COL Becky Backer from the Office of the Surgeon General USA MEDDAC told VA officials at Ft. Drum to stop helping wounded soldiers with disability paperwork.

While Army Surgeon General Eric Schoomaker has denied that this is true, a VA document obtained by NPR contradict his claim. The document goes on to describe wounded soldiers living in deplorable conditions.
